For years we traveled this same road on the way to visit our son and family and never noticed this old oak tree living near the road. It was hidden in all the brush, until the owners cleaned up the brush along the road. It was like I had discovered a new treasure, who became my secret friend. I would stare at it every time we drove past it and I just had to immortalize it into a painting. Soon after I completed the painting, the property owners cut off several of it's unique twisted branches, leaving it looking very sad. They cut off a lot of it's character, but, the tree lives on, standing proud as it tells it's secret stories of life near the Blanchard River near Findlay, Ohio where it has stood as a silent witness for over 300 years.
