Every painting has a story
This painting was done during a special mixed media workshop that I attended. I named it Spirit Fire.
The phrase baptism by fire or baptism of fire is a phrase originating from the words of John the Baptist in Matthew 3:11 Matthew 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire." John said this water baptism ritual is to symbolize that the convert has repented of their sins and given their life to Jesus. John said that Jesus would later baptize them with the Holy Ghost and fire. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:29 Just before Jesus ascended into heaven, he told his followers to wait in Jerusalem until they received this special power. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24: 29 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
