This is my first attempt at using Hebrew letters in my art. The black letters spell Torah in Hebrew. Torah means instruction, direction, teaching, or doctrine teaching us the truth about God. It is derived from the root word, "yareh" which comes from archery, or shooting an arrow in order to hit the mark or target. There are two other words that are derived from the root of Torah. One is the word for teacher, "morah". The other is parent, "horeh". One of the primary roles of a parent is to teach their children. Our Heavenly Father sent His word to teach us in the ways of God. The first five books written by Moses in the Tanach (Old Testament), are also referred to as the Torah. In the general sense, the whole Bible could also be called the Torah, since it really means the teachings of God. Most people tend to think that the Torah just means laws, but, it is much more than that. It is the personal teachings of God given to mankind. I think of the Bible as a collection of "Love Letters" from my heavenly father.
