'Wrapped in angel wings'I was painting this at church one day when a mother came by and noticed the start of this painting. She wanted to know if I could change the baby into one who had downs syndrome. She and her husband had adopted several children with disabilities and she was grieving over the loss of her son who passed away from downs syndrome. She never gave me a photo of her son for a reference, so I had to do some research and make up my own from what I learned. I have no idea what her son actually looked like. She never even described his looks verbally. I wasn't sure if she was even serious about wanting a painting, but, I did it anyway. Here is the result. This painting was challenging on many levels, both emotionally and artistically, yet I hope it is a blessing and comfort to her and her family.
God knows: Psalm 139:13 For You formed my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum! 18 If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; and when I awake, I am still with You. |
