Every painting has a storyWe marvel at the beauty of the peacock, with it's brilliant colors and shapes that look like eyes in it's tail. In many cultures the peacock is considered sacred. Although we should not worship created things, we can admire beauty where we see it, knowing that it is all part of God's design. As I am working on a painting, I am absorbed in the technique of getting it painted correctly. It isn't until I'm done that I usually see the spiritual significance.
Did you know that God's wisdom is multi-colored? This painting has a lot of brilliant colors in it. The New Testament was written in Greek, since it was commonly spoken then. The Greek word for manifold means multicolored. poikílos, "many diverse manifestations" – properly, ultra-diverse, with multitudinous expressions (facets) or multicolored. polýs, "much in number, many”. The only place that these two words are combined into one word, polupoikilos, or many multicolored, is in Ephesians 3:10 "To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God." As an artist, when I see colors mentioned in the scriptures, that excites me! God’s wisdom is multi-colored! |
